The unintended expat blogger behind PlainFogPouch

Hello, I am Sofia
Role: project manager. A parent. An expatriate residing in Madrid, Spain.
Several years ago, I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually opened a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to Spain wasn't in the long-term plan. Like many expat relocations, it began as a job opportunity and soon grew into something much more substantial.
The initial months were demanding— unfamiliar processes, new rhythms, and fresh expectations. Everyday chores seemed more complex than expected.
The Adjustment Period
Culturеl adjustment, ambiguity, and plenty of learning on the job. Gradually, routines took shape. We found spots that suited us, connected with other families, and began creating something that felt secure.
Why I Built PlainFogPouch
Most online information was either corporate relocation guidance or shallow tourism content. What was lacking was a candid, everyday family perspective.
This site aims to bridge that gap — practical guidance grounded in real life in Spain.
What This Site Does (And Does Not)
This site is:
- Hands-on experience from living in Spain
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever something truly changes
This site isn't:
- An official tourism authority resource
- A sponsored review platform
- Just another generic travel blog
Looking Forward
Our time in Spain goes on, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll continue documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Madrid or anywhere in Spain, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Best regards,
Sofia
